For the month of January, we are discussing "The Resolution for Women " by Priscilla Shirer. Below is a recap if you'd like to join us in the discussion:
JANUARY 7th
Part1 (pages 11-30)
Priscilla shares a story of a sit down with a good friend. She is getting ready to have her 36th birthday and is a bit anxious about about the next phase of her life.
The friend doesn’t seemed phased by Priscilla’s “petty” concerns.
In that exchange, Priscilla realizes that she had been hurrying through life and not enjoying, nor appreciating her current life because she was always so concerned about her future life.
She talks about rushing through her 20s, 30s, and 40s and shares the problems in doing so:
We are often too busy at becoming who we want to be instead of being who we are.
By rushing through life, you subtilly devalue those around you and the experiences that you are involved in.
Instead of relishing, each moment, each year, each opportunity, each step on the journey you’re constantly over eager to get to the next thing which always looks more enticing than what’s currently before you.
A woman who has chosen to be satisfied with what she has is uncommon.
we must learn to celebrate us by refusing to create or paint a life that God is not orchestrating.
We must learn to live in the moment and stop creating fake memories.
Balance is required to enjoy life now and have an appropriate level of anticipation.
Make a resolve to allow others to encourage you, but never condemn your current state.
God's grace is available for the season you are in and supposed to be in.
The Resolution of Contentment
… “for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.”
